Dean of School Professor Anita Taylor opens a solo exhibition of her drawings at The Customs House Gallery in South Shields on Thursday 17 August.

This exhibition of drawings will include 12 works of monumental scale and 28 smaller works, spanning the last 20 years. Anita’s charcoal drawings form part of a continuous strand of pieces which document 20 years of postgraduate development, often using herself as the model. They are not self-portraits in the traditional sense, but use the figure as a vehicle for communicating complex and universal feelings; the viewer becomes complicit in each piece as it mirrors their own mood or preoccupations. An illustrated catalogue will be produced during the exhibition to include images of the installation.

As part of the exhibition, Anita will be giving a talk in the shape of an informal chat and brunch, and an illustrated catalogue will also be produced during the exhibition, to include images of the installation.

In addition to her role as Dean of Bath School of Art and Design, Anita runs Drawing Projects UK in Trowbridge, and also co-founded the Jerwood Drawing Prize.
