The Affordable Art Fair at The Cob Gallery in London is inviting recent graduates from Bath Spa to exhibit in its dedicated Recent Graduates Exhibition.

The Recent Graduates’ Exhibition is specific to the October fairs, showcasing a selection of work by a small number (usually around 10 -20) recent graduates from art schools across the country. It will be positioned in the fair’s entrance and in several installation areas within the main fair and in the grounds on the approach to the fairs entrance, as such the exhibition will be seen by all who visit the fair. Many visitors will take this opportunity to talent-spot and acquire work by an emerging star of the future. The Recent Graduates’ section therefore serves two purposes in both introducing challenging contemporary art to the art fair’s visitors, whilst also enabling graduates to exhibit their work to a large audience, thus potentially providing a launching pad in these initial stages of an artist’s career.

* There is no fee for applying or exhibiting, instead a standard London gallery commission is taken on sales. Details are in the attached T&Cs. All staffing, sales, insurance, print, PR, marketing, and exhibition costs (excluding delivery and collection of work) are borne by the AAF.

* Please note that all work on sale, must be so for less than £6,000. If you are unsure about the pricing of your work I would be happy to discuss this with you should your work be selected for exhibition.

* It is possible to exhibit work that is not for sale, in the case of large scale installations or performance works.

In previous years some of our recent graduates were featured in the Sunday Times Culture magazine and BBC1’s The One Show. Previous participants have included Julia Vogl (who went on to win the Catlin prize), Philip Gurrey (winner of the PULSE prize), Martina Lindqvist (winner of the Jerwood Photography Award in 2008), and Andrew Salgado, Jodie Carey and Damien Roach who are now all enjoying international success.

If you are interested in this opportunity, email with a selection of images that reflect the extent of your recent work (ideally your graduation show piece/s if these are still available). Your images should be chosen with a view to exhibiting a body of work. Understandably things may become unavailable for exhibition between now and October, but the curator will be looking to exhibit work in a similar vein to what they have seen in your application and degree show, and would need to see new work before the show itself. You will not have to be available during the show – hanging, invigilation of the exhibition, and handling of the sales will be taken care of –  but you will need to be able to deliver the work prior to the fair.

With each image, provide:

  • Title of piece
  • Dimensions
