Returning students – Bath Spa University

If you're entering your second year, third year, or postgraduate study and you're still searching for a room for 2024/25, we have a limited quantity of rooms available.

We understand the student housing market can be competitive and thankfully this year we can support our returning students who are still looking for a room.

Our team have secured a limited number of rooms, available on a first-come, first-serve basis, that returning students can apply for.

We have a selection of standard ensuite rooms and premium ensuite rooms at our Waterside Court and Charlton Court accommodation, as well as standard ensuite rooms and studios at Twerton Mill.

First year undergraduate students, foundation students and students eligible for Priority Halls should not apply for a room on this page. If you're joining Bath Spa University for this first time this September, please see our applying for accommodation page before the 30 June deadline.

How to apply

Returning students can register their interest in a room by completing the online form linked below:

The form will be accessible from 12pm on Monday 11 March 2024:

Once you've successfully logged into the Register of Interest form with your Bath Spa student ID and date of birth, you can select the type of room you're most interested in. Please select the room type from the dropdown box (please ignore the "room with shared bathroom facilities" option, as this will not be available to returning students).

In the Additional Information box, you can tell us exactly what your preferred room type and location would be. For example, you can tell us if a Twerton Mill studio is what you're most interested in, or if your prefer a standard ensuite room in Waterside Court. We'll try our best to match you to your preference but offers are dependent on availability.

In the What type of student are you section, it's important that you tick the box that says "Returning Student". This ensures that your application is logged correctly.

You don't need to complete the Students with Accommodation Access Requirements section. If you have a disability, impairment or medical condition that requires a certain type of accommodation, then you should stop this application and see our Priority Halls information on how you should best apply for housing with us, before 30 June.

Once you've finished reading the terms and conditions and are happy with your application, tick the two boxes to confirm and click Submit to send in your application.

You should hear back from our team within 6 weeks of completing the form, but if you'd like an update, please email us: accommodation@bathspa.ac.uk

Which rooms are available

Waterside Court and Charlton Court

Both Waterside Court and Charlton Court are located next door to each other on Lower Bristol Road, within a popular student area in Bath close to the city centre and major bus routes.

Both halls boast modern architecture and interiors. They’re spacious, comfortable, and every room has a fresh and contemporary feel. Your room will have a three-quarter size bed in Charlton Court and a single bed in Waterside Court, a fitted wardrobe, storage space and a study desk. You’ll have your own bathroom too – all rooms are ensuite. There's a laundrette onsite and 24-hour security and wireless internet is included.

In a standard ensuite room you’ll find yourself sharing modern kitchen facilities with a group of other students. Want more space? You could opt for a Premium 1 room, where you’ll share a kitchen with just two other students. Alternatively the Premium 2 rooms offer the comfort of a larger study bedroom with a shared kitchen between 4 or 5 people.

Twerton Mill

Twerton Mill is located on Lower Bristol Road and within easy reach of supermarkets like Sainsbury's and Lidl, as well as McDonalds and a large M&S food hall around the corner.

Twerton Mill offers high quality self-catered accommodation and is always a popular choice, thanks to its excellent proximity to local transport routes and a range of modern rooms and studios. There's a suite of excellent social and study facilities on site and a newly-built gym available to all residents. A laundrette is also on site, along with 24-hour security and wireless internet as standard.

Your room will have a small double bed, private bathroom, storage space and a study desk. Standard ensuite rooms will share kitchen and communal spaces, whereas studio rooms include a private kitchen and living area.

Important information

Rooms at the Newton Park campus and Bankside House are not available to returning students who register their interest via the application form linked to on this page. Only a limited number of rooms are available at Waterside Court, Charlton Court and Twerton Mill.

Waterside Court and Charlton Court are managed by Unite Students and Twerton Mill is managed by iQ Student Accommodation. All the rooms available to returning students are part of shared flats with other students, except studios, which are self-contained individual apartments.

All offers are subject to availability and a £250 prepayment of the licence fee is required to confirm the booking with Unite Students or iQ Student Accommodation. This prepayment is not a deposit and is typically taken off your first rent payment.

Your application is with us at Bath Spa University but please be aware that contracts and payments are with Unite Students and iQ directly, depending on the location. Once you've signed their tenancy agreement, you're liable for the full length of the agreed-upon stay in their halls and their terms and conditions.

Tenancy agreements are set to run between 21 September 2024 and 26 July 2025. Accommodation is not available before and after these dates.

Returning students are not able to apply if they:

  • Aren't studying at one of the Bath-based campuses
  • Have outstanding debt with the University, Unite Students or iQ Student Accommodation
  • Have disciplinary or misconduct history with the University, Unite Students or iQ Student Accommodation.

Availability of rooms is limited, so if we're unable to offer your preferred selection, you may receive an alternative offer for a different room type and/or location. Completing the registration of interest form doesn't guarantee you an offer of accommodation, and once we've filled all our available rooms, applications will be closed.
