Glazes: we've got you covered
In addition to the workshop space, you'll also have access to an excellent glaze laboratory. There are glazes ready for you to use, or if you’re feeling experimental, you can mix up your own!
Ceramics
Our Ceramics workshop lets you explore and create, from vases and mugs to elaborate sculptures... and everything in between.
The Ceramics workshops allow you to fully explore various techniques and materials in ceramics, supported by an experienced team of technical staff and academics. From traditional techniques of throwing, mould-making and handbuilding to modern technology, you can try different materials and experiment using a range of tools.
Clay preparation, throwing, plaster mould-making and slip casting – we’ve got everything a ceramicist could need. You’ll be able to fire your creations using our range of electric and gas-fired kilns.
You can also take advantage of our 3D digital processes workshop including rapid prototyping and digital transfer printing.
As a Bath Spa student of any course, once you’ve booked and attended your safety induction, you can use any of our workshop facilities.
We work closely with your course tutors to ensure that you’re inducted to the workshops that are relevant to your course, and this process is ongoing and flexible – you’re encouraged to attend refresher inductions as needed so that you’re always working safely with the wealth of techniques, facilities and technical support available.
